Hasbro and TakaraTomy are the only licensed holder of Transformers. Although they are the licensed holder of Transformers, they do not necessary share all the similarities line-up in Transformers Range.
Both have the same manufacturer and factory based in China. Of course, their QC are very strict, hence we get such good quality toys from them (especially TakaraTomy version).
So what are the differences in between them?
Let's have an "in-depth" of the Leader Class Optimus Prime from the first Transformer Movie. There are 3 versions of Leader Class Optimus Prime from the first movie.
First Version Leader Class - Optimus Prime (Hasbro & TakaraTomy)
In this version, there are no differences between Hasbro & TakaraTomy. So you can say they are identical to each other

Second Version Leader Class - Optimus Prime Night Watch (Hasbro & TakaraTomy)
In this version, there are also no differences between Hasbro & TakaraTomy. So you can say they are identical to each other again
*Same as the First Version only painted in metallic blue
Third Version Leader Class - Optimus Prime Sword Ver(Hasbro & TakaraTomy)
